OPG & Cone Beam CT X'rays
At our Yamba practice, we conveniently have an OPG/CBCT machine in the practice. This facilitates quicker diagnosis, referrals as well as convenience for patients, dentists and specialists alike.
An OPG is a simple 2-dimentional X'ray that helps clinicians see all your teeth, jaws and joints in one nice "whole mouth" view. It is excellent for diagnosing disease of bone and teeth and usually is needed to assess the position and shape of wisdom teeth and before surgical procedures (like implants) can be considered.
Cone Beam CT scans are a more detailed form of examinations that allows for 3-dimentional analysis, diagnosing and planning of surgeries. CBCT are low dose CT's of just the areas in the head that is required.
